Mission Statement
Our Mission is to develop a viable independent fishing operation in which our shareholders, staff, vessel crew and their families share in profits and risks. Our fishing comany aim to save the capital necessary in the long term to increase our own fishing capacity. Komicx value the right of the individual to exploit a resource which we, as South Africans, all legitimately deserve to share. This value should not undermine the long-term sustainability of the fish stocks we exploit and we shall at all times be respectful of our environment and to one another.
History
Komicx Products started in October 1992 with premises and cold storage in Kommetjie, a small fishing village in Cape Town, South Africa. The object of the company was to catch, process and market fish allocated to it by the Department of Environment Affairs in South Africa. Prior to being allocated its own fishing quotas the company bought in fish from local fishing operators which it processed to supply export markets and formal and informal local market traders. This, and the processing of various fish species on behalf of the local fish traders is still an important aspect of our business.
Goals and Objectives
- To maximise the potential of our investments and to sustain and increase turnover and profit thereby securing stability of income and employment for our shareholders, crew and families.
- To continue to provide and investigate opportunities for growth and investment in the local community and economy of the area as a whole.
- To support independent entrepreneurial skills with emphasis on historically disadvantaged groups.
- To support a sound management system for our fish resources and to interact with the department of Marine and Coastal Management with a view to the long term sustainability of our marine resources.
- To provide social upliftment to our immediate communities
- To purchase our own fishing units to secure our product supply.
